Many moons ago, a mysterious village lay on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River under the rule of the “Kingdom of Siam,” Siam, which later became Thailand – The Land of Smiles.

1782, this village became the capital of Siam. The opening ceremony featured an invitation to the guardian angels, calling upon them to stay and care for the Siamese. Ever since, angels have watched over the Kingdom.
The new city was named Thai Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Krung Thep)—a graceful abbreviation of its long ceremonial title. Over time, its English name evolved into Bangkok – The City of Angels.
